Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, you’ll be greeted by our Airport Representative and escorted to your private driver. Travel to Colombo, the nation’s vibrant capital, and check into your hotel to unwind and recover from your journey. If time permits, take a short tour of the city with your driver, exploring key sights and soaking in the local atmosphere.

Destination: Tangalle
Drive: Distance (195 km)
After breakfast, set off for Tangalle, renowned for its expansive beaches and vibrant marine life, including a large population of sea turtles. Dive into the clear blue waters for snorkeling and get up close with the colorful fish and gentle turtles in their natural habitat.
Destination: Mulkirigala
Drive: Distance(16 km)
Perched atop a towering boulder surrounded by dense forest, Mulkirigala Temple offers a rewarding climb and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Originally conceived by King Kavantissa, the temple complex includes the Rajamaha Vihara, constructed in traditional Kandyan style with Dutch-tiled floors and wooden pillars. Over the centuries, it has also become a repository for many ancient texts and sacred scriptures.

Destination: stay in Tangalle, or go to Udawalawa National Park (drive: 3 ½ hours)
This morning, choose between relaxing on Tangalle’s pristine beaches or venturing to Udawalawe National Park. Located in southern Sri Lanka, the park teems with wildlife, including guaranteed sightings of wild elephant herds. You may also encounter water buffalo, spotted and barking deer, wild boar, jackals, sambas, mongooses, and a variety of reptiles, insects, and fish. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive leopard that calls this sanctuary home.

Destination: Mirissa Beach – whale watching
Drive: Distance (45 km)
After an early breakfast, head to Mirissa Beach for a thrilling 5-hour boat excursion into the Indian Ocean. Keep your eyes open for sperm whales, blue whales, orcas, and various species of dolphins including spinner, bottlenose, striped, and Risso’s dolphins. An on-board guide will help you identify each species along the way. Weather permitting, enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the ocean before returning to your hotel in Tangalle.

Destination: Yala National Park
Drive: Distance (110 km)
After an early start, journey to Yala National Park for a private jeep safari with your personal guide. The park is teeming with wildlife, including jackals, spotted deer, sloth bears, sambars, wild buffalo, mongooses, crocodiles, and, of course, majestic wild elephants. Keep an eye out for the elusive Sri Lankan leopard, often spotted roaming through the lush jungle.

Drive: Distance (120 km)
Visit the village of Maligawala to see the impressive 12-meter-high limestone Buddha statue dating back to the 7th century, along with the 10-meter Bodhisattva Buddha at Avalokiteshwara. After a short break, continue to the sacred city of Katharagama, a revered pilgrimage site. Explore the Katharagama Vihara Complex, which features shrines to the gods Katharagama, Vishnu, and Saman, a Bo tree, a Buddhist monastery, and the historic Kiriwehera and Mahadevalaya temples.

Drive: Distance (192 km)
We will be on our way to the heart of the Sri Lankan tea production region: Nuwara Eliya. It is sometimes called ‘Little England’. On the way there, we will stop at the breath taking Rawana Ella Waterfalls. Spend the rest of your day in this beautiful area, and enjoy all the spectacles around the city.

Destination: Horton Plains
Drive: Distance (30 km)
After breakfast, set out for Horton Plains, Sri Lanka’s highest plateau. This breathtaking region offers some of the island’s most scenic hiking trails, with photo-worthy vistas at every turn. Unique among Sri Lankan parks, visitors can freely explore the trails on their own. After your hike, return to Nuwara Eliya and enjoy some afternoon sightseeing in this charming hill country town.

Destination: Negombo
After an early rise, we will leave for the fishing village of Negombo. You have the choice to go either via Kandy, or via Kitulgala.
Option 1: Temple of the tooth relic (Kandy)
Drive: Distance (77 km)
Located in the heart of Kandy, the Temple of the Tooth houses the sacred Buddha tooth relic, brought to Sri Lanka over 1,600 years ago. The temple is adorned with intricate frescoes and carvings, and the relic itself is carefully kept within the sanctified chamber known as ‘Vedahitina Maligaya.’
Option 2: Elephant orphanage
Drive: Distance (50 km)
After breakfast, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, established in 1975 to care for orphaned baby elephants. Today, it is home to the world’s largest captive elephant herd, which is also used for breeding and conservation purposes.
Option going via Kithulgala:
Drive: Distance (75 km)
After breakfast, journey to the picturesque town of Kitulgala, a natural haven perfect for trekking and thrilling white-water rafting adventures along the Kelani River.

Spend your days in Negombo at your leisure. Explore the town and its beaches with your chauffeur, take a scenic boat ride along the Dutch Canals, visit historic Dutch churches, or simply relax and unwind on the golden sands.
